Looking at more penthouses

Today we saw 8-10 places in Mellieha. 2 or 3 of them were penthouses, but we didn’t fall for any of them.

We liked one mansionette that had bathroom and 3 bedrooms on one floor and the living-kitchen on top floor. It had a nice big terrace with view over Ghadira Bay. But. Just across the view is a white wire that really bothers me!

This little cute puppy was in another mansionette we saw. Unfortunately he wasn’t included in the price. :-(

The last property we saw was a 3 floor house-of-character in central Mellieha. Recently refurbished and with furniture included (that’s good, so we won’t have to buy everything). But the windows are small and few in number, so floor 1 and 2 were very dark. And there is now view to talk about.

Looking at a flat with own roof in Għaxaq

0

Today we’ve been looking at a flat in Għaxaq, in the southern part of Malta. Only small balcony outside the living room, but up on the roof there was a great space that could be used instead of terrace. The laundry-room was big and could easily be used as a summer kitchen insteadof laundry-room. The main bathroom in the flat was big and the washing machine could be place in there instead. The view was OK… but nothing special. The good thing with the flat was that the owner had spent some money on making the floor sound proof and put some isolation into the roof.

Nice view, close to Valletta, good resell value. But…

We took a short look at a flat in Msida during lunch hour today. It was good… we liked the layout och the flat and the view over Msida Marina was great! But with the road to Valletta just outside there was too much noise. Even with the sliding doors to the terrace closed we could here the traffic. And it wouldn’t be very pleasant to have dinner or just sit and relax on the terrace during summer when there is even more traffic.

Looking at several flats in Marsascala

0

Kalle saw an ad online earlier today and made an appointment with the estate agent. We thought we were gonna see a penthouse with unobstructed sea-view, that’s what the ad said. But it turned out to be a regular flat. Well, it had sea-view, but with a bunch of power lines just outside the balcony. So it was a waste of time to see that place. But the agent asked if we wanted to see some other objects she had, in Marsascala. We’ve heard that Marsascala isn’t the best place to invest in, but we thought we could take a look anyway.

She had several objects that were really interesting! i really fell in love with a penthouse with view over Marsascala bay and we could see all the big cargo ships passing by at the horizon. And the penthouse had the biggest terrace I’ve ever seen! WOW! But the flat itself were just a little bit too small. There were no good place for a washing machine for instance…

Baħrija again… same building but another flat

Telephone lines in the view - me not like

Telephone lines in the view - me not like

The estate agent wanted us to look at the other apartments in the building in Baħrija where we’ve been looking at the penthouse. It is bigger and cheaper. But there is only a small balcony on the front and the view is no longer unobstructed. There are power lines or telephone lines just above the horizon. Those lines would drive me crazy every day when I look at the view…

Chelle and Isak were with us so they also saw the flat in Baħrija. They thought we should go for the penthouse. :-)

We drove by the penthouse in Baħrija again today. The building was all open so we went inside to have another look.

We’ve seen a few more flats and penthouses today and we finally found something that could work.

We want a “breathtaking, unobstructed view”, large terrace with evening sun, peace and quiet and it must be a good area for walking Gizmo.

So, this penthouse shell we saw today is situated in Baħrija, a small village far away from stress, people, noise. I felt very relaxed out here and the there is a large open space just outside the house where we can let Gizmo run free. The view are really nice and I would probably have my pentax ready at all times, to capture the beauty.

The penthouse has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (main + en-suite), combined kitchen/dining/living with a large terrace. From the terrace the view over Comino and Gozo is fantastic. There is also a small area that could be a good spot for a washing machine. On the back there is a smaller balcony/terrace with sun all day long.

We saw another 2 flats in Mellieha. One of them had a balcony or terrace for every room! Cool.. but a waste of space in my opinion. The living space was small and since there were 3 (!) big terraces already, the balconies would probably not ever be used.

Next flat was located in Manikata. Nice location on the countryside. But. The terrace and livingroom was facing a stone landscape. Well, not that bad maybe… but it felt wrong to have the sea view at the back… and also, there was a house just in the middle of the beautiful seaview.  Too bad…

The flat was in shell form. Not finished in other words. When we were out on the terrace we heard a dog barking. It was the neighbour’s dog. Hehe, I guess he and Gizmo would bark at each other all day long if we lived there!

After Manikata we moved on to Mgarr and saw two more flats. But nothing interesting.

Trasig bur

Trasig bur
